Happy Fried-Day! (October edition)

Apple picking and leaf peeping are two of the more ubiquitous New England-y "must do's" once fall rolls around. But do you know the third?

Why, noshing apple cider doughnuts, of course!

These little loves are from Honey Pot Hill in Stow, MA

Simply put, these adorably small cake doughnuts are amazing! Their batter is brimming with tangy apple cider and a host of autumn-y spices, like cinnamon and nutmeg. After they're shaped, the doughnuts take a dip into the deep fryer where their slightly crunchy crust is formed, all the while keeping their insides airy and tender.

Oh, and the best part is: after the doughnuts are drained, they're rolled around in cinnamon-sugar. True, you can get them plain but honestly, don't bother. If you're gonna be putting away a few doughnuts anyway, just go for broke and get them coated!

Om nom nom!

  2. Oh yum!!!! Apple cider donuts!!! We went to Honey Pot two years ago but the line was so long for goodies that we didn't wait. Sad face......I was at Idylewild Farms in Acton yesterday and they were baking their apple cider donuts and the smell was to die for. Sadly, I didn't buy any, and the samples were all gone too.

    2. I LOVE Idylewild! It's close to me and I'm able to get some great produce there, especially this time of year and through the winter when the grocery store produce is so lacking. They also have a great bakery and other goodies, which I try so hard to resist but sometimes I just have to have.
