Just in case the title didn't give it away, we are gonna be talkin' ribs today! Many apologies to any veggie lovin' readers out there but I'm a carnivore, through and through. ;)
It all started long, long ago in a land far away...or rather, a few weekends ago at the Anheuser-Busch factory in Merrimack, NH. (Either way, it's a good story.) Anyways, they hold the annual Rock'n Ribfest there and my babe and I finally got to attend! It was a sight for sore eyes: world-class BBQers, piles of meaty goodness, and cold beer.
We wasted no time in hitting up the booths, grabbing a three-rib sampler at each place. After sampling ribs from six different vendors, we decided we'd save the other couple booths for the following week at the Phantom Gourmet BBQ Beach Party. Check out the meaty line up:
(Ribs are messy, both in taking their photo & eating them. Don't hate.)
At the end of the day, I liked the ribs from T-Roy's Hickory Smoked Barbecue the best. They were very meaty, incredibly tender that they just fell off the bone, and the sauce was mighty tasty. Jack's Down Home Barbecue was up there too.
Being the
gluttons food enthusiasts we are, a round of wings (alongside some of the best bleu cheese I've ever had)...
a helping of Pig Candy were also washed down with some brews. Ummm, Pig Candy? Why, sugarized hickory smoked bacon, of course...
and we also tasted some of the hottest damn hot sauce. Now, I'm no heat wimp and can usually hang with the best of em. But this stuff nearly burned my taste buds off - not for the faint of heart...
