Before getting ourselves all battered and fried today, I wanted to share a link to a fun slide show with ya. I came across it on Delish and it was all about weird fried foods! Take a click through and let me know if there's any that you've tried, want to try, or would-never-eat-even-for-a-million-dollars. Personally, the Little Nookies sound right up my alley...the tarantulas? Not so much.
Alright, drum roll please! This month's Fried-Day features........
Deep fried Snickers!
My babe and I snagged these beauts at Atlantic Beer Garden in Boston last summer. (Great place, by the way - outdoor seating by the water, fabulously enormous orders of nachos, and these lovelies, of course.) Snickers are - in the own right - a pretty fantastic candy bar. They have so much going on already: chocolate, nougat, caramel, and peanuts. Might as well kick it up a notch, right?
You betcha! Toss that baby into some batter and let it take a swim into some hot oil. When the bar comes out, the chocolate bar inside has started to soften into perfect consistency - contrasting well with the crispy blanket of heaven on the outside. Why stop now? Let's gild the lily with a drizzle of chocolate sauce...and serve it alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream, strawberries, and whipped cream. Seriously? You can't ask for a much more decadent dessert. (And surprisingly gorgeous for a deep fried treat!) *drool*
These are making me ponder the possibilities of other deep fried candy bars. Oh boy, I might have opened my own personal Pandora's box with this one... ;)
